Charles (Chuck) Engelbrecht
Charles V. Engelbrecht, 72, passed away on March 10, 2019 at his home in Dale, Indiana, surrounded by his family. He was preceded in death by his parents, Gilbert and Naamah (Wertman) Engelbrecht, and his brothers LeRoy and George Engelbrecht.
Charles is survived by his wife, Susan, daughters Kimberly Letnaunchyn and Christine Brown, step-children Jennifer and David Smallwood, 8 grandchildren, and his sister, Peggy Schaefer.
Charles was a Marine Corp veteran of the Vietnam War where he valiantly served his country for 2 tours in the Northern IKOR, earning 2 Purple Hearts and a Bronze Star. He was the proud author of a book written of his time in-country and afterward entitled, “The Guns Fell Silent and The War Began”.
His hobbies included raising rabbits, woodcrafts, coin collecting, antique guns, and running his antique business, Grainry Antiques & Other Needful Things.
Funeral Services are planned for 11 AM CST Thursday March 14, 2019 at St. John’s Lutheran Church, 12308 1160 North, Evanston, Indiana 47611, with a reception to follow in the Church hall.
Visitation from 9 – 11 AM CST at the church on Thursday.
